After one weekend of 64 women’s college basketball teams playing for their chance to make it to the national championship game, the Sweet 16 is almost set. Four of those sixteen teams will be making their way to Stockton, California this week to fight for their shot at reaching the Final 4. The Stockton Arena is getting ready to host games between some of the best women’s college basketball teams in the nation on March 25th and 27th. Out of the 16 teams that were trying to make it to Stockton, the 1 seed South Carolina, the 2 seed Oregon State and the 3 seed Florida State have already punched their ticket. The final sport will be given to either the 4th seed Miami (Fla.) or the 12th seed Quinnipiac, who play March 20th.
So far it looks like Stockton will be home to some great match ups between all of the top seeds in their bracket. The game between Oregon State and Florida State will showcase a match up between teams with some of the best scoring offenses and best scoring defenses in the country. The Oregon State Beavers rank 10th in the nation for scoring defense and are the regular season Pac-12 champions. They will be going up against the Florida State Seminoles. All of Florida’s starters average over 9 points a game and they are ranked the 11th best scoring offense in the NCAA, scoring more than 80 points a game.
The game between South Carolina and either Miami or Quinnipiac will be a tough match up for either of the teams that makes it. South Carolina is the 3rd ranked team in the nation with plenty of basketball played in March under their belt. South Carolina has the 11th best field goal percentage in the nation with 4 of their 5 starters combined average scoring 13.8 points a game. Whether Miami or Quinnipiac makes it to the game verse South Carolina, they are going to have to play the best they can and get South Carolina out of their offensive rhythm.
The first game will be March 25th at 1:00 p.m. followed by a game at 3:30 p.m. The winner of those two games will play on March 27th at 6:00p.m. Tickets can be bought at the Stockton Arena Box Office or online at NCAA.com/WBBTickets.
